On May 1, high school students around the country made the big decision about where to attend college for the next four years, with hundreds from the future Class of 2029 choosing Brandeis as their new home.

Alumni and friends also chose Brandeis in a big way: by joining the “Decide on DEIS” challenge to raise scholarship funds for students.

Together, they brought in nearly $70,000 for scholarships and exceeded a goal of 250 participants set by Stevie Rachmuth ’14, who promised to give an additional $25,000 when his challenge was met.

“I loved my Brandeis experience,” says Rachmuth, CEO of fine jewelry brand SLR Jewels and member of the Brandeis Alumni Board. “As the years go by, I realize more and more how important Brandeis was, and still is, to my success. I’m thrilled that so many fellow alumni rose to the challenge.”

Alumni made up nearly 80 percent of supporters, with parents, grandparents, Brandeis National Committee members, and faculty/staff also pitching in.
