How to Give

Canadian law allows Canadian taxpayers to make tax-deductible donations to “prescribed universities” outside Canada—and Brandeis qualifies as such. Gifts can be made in Canadian dollars or U.S. dollars. Brandeis University will send Canadian-based donors an official tax receipt as required under Canadian law.

Hong Kong residents may make donations to Brandeis University through the Chapel & York HK Foundation, which is a Hong Kong-registered charity. The partnership between Brandeis and the Chapel & York HK Foundation enables Hong Kong taxpayers to make charitable gifts to Brandeis and simultaneously obtain Hong Kong tax relief.
To take advantage of this unique opportunity, make your gift to Brandeis by visiting the Chapel & York HK Foundation website.
Donors making a gift through the Chapel & York HK Foundation should contact Marisol Lopez, director of gift administration, with their charitable gift details to ensure their gift intentions are fulfilled.
U.K. donors making a gift to Brandeis University through the Charities Aid Foundation are eligible for U.K. tax benefits as well as U.S. tax benefits (if jointly filing in the United States).
U.K. residents who do not also file in the U.S.
U.K. residents donating to Brandeis, who do not file taxes in the U.S., are encouraged to sign-up by going to the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) UK and establish a CAF Trust Giving account to make a gift to Brandeis.

“Dual-registered” U.K. resident donors (individuals who file tax returns in both the U.K. and the U.S.)
U.K. residents giving to Brandeis, who are required to file returns in both the U.K. and the U.S., should make their contribution through the Charities Aid Foundation - American Donor Fund by simply creating an account through the CAF – American Donor Fund.
Gifts to Brandeis made through the CAF - American Donor Fund account allow dual-registered donors to get tax benefits in both the U.K. and the U.S. More specifically, giving through the CAF - American Donor Fund will ensure:
- Gift Aid eligibility which, where applicable, can increase the value of your donation to Brandeis by as much as 25%;
- that donors can claim the difference between basic and higher tax rates through their U.K. tax return;
- that donors can claim tax deductibility on their donation on their U.S. return.

European-based Brandeis donors are encouraged to make their gift online by visiting giving.brandeis.edu/mygift or by making their gift by check (in USD or their local currency) and mailing it to:

In addition, European-based Brandeis donors may be able to make donations through Transnational Giving Europe (TGE). TGE is a network of European countries and philanthropic organizations that enable European residents of a participating country to make charitable gifts to qualifying charities in other TGE member countries.

Under the U.S.-Israel tax treaty, Israeli donors are extended tax benefits for contributions to Brandeis.
