On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, Brandeis alumni Karen Uhlenbeck, MA’66, PhD’68, H’08, became the first woman to receive the Abel Prize — an award modeled on the Nobel Prizes — from the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters for “the fundamental impact of her work on analysis, geometry and mathematical physics.”
