New Campaign to Expand Access to Internships for Brandeis Undergraduates

Internships are crucial to gaining real-world experience that leads to successful employment after graduation. Unfortunately, many internships are unpaid.

Since 2008, the Hiatt Career Center’s World of Work (WOW) Internship Funding Program has provided stipends that allow Brandeis undergraduates to take part in meaningful but otherwise unpaid summer internships. By reducing financial barriers, Brandeis undergraduates have greater freedom to explore potential career fields, gain new skills, and experience the world of work.

Over the past decade, WOW has evolved into a highly sought-after scholarship with a competitive application process. With limited funding each year, only a small pool of students are awarded funds to pursue their summer experiences.

Now, the program is looking to expand to meet the needs of Brandeis’ most vulnerable students, including those who come from modest economic circumstances, students who entered Brandeis under DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), and those international students who have been impacted by the current administration’s travel bans.

The Internship Access Campaign is a newly launched crowdfunding initiative to give Brandeis students a chance to explore without boundaries. Every $5,000 raised will allow another student to pursue an internship opportunity this summer.
