Join us for an interactive, hour-long webinar and hear from two Brandeis alumni athletes about their successful careers marketing some of the biggest brands in sports – including Nike, Adidas, the Brooklyn Nets and Madison Square Garden.
Rashad Williams '02 and Jayne Bussman-Wise '04 will illustrate the myriad career opportunities in sports marketing – from consumer research and product generation to digital, social media and public relations – and offer advice to those looking to advance in the field. The pair will also discuss their own career paths, from varsity basketball players at Brandeis to where they are today - designing footwear for top NBA players and launching Twitter campaigns that garner national attention!

About the Speakers:
Jayne Bussman-Wise ’04 received a B.A. in economics from Brandeis where she was captain of the women’s basketball team She recently joined LeadDog Marketing Group as senior director, overseeing digital, marketing, social media and public relations. Previously, she ran digital marketing — websites, social media platforms and mobile activations — for the Brooklyn Nets, Barclays Center, Madison Square Garden and the New York Rangers.
Bussman-Wise’s digital rebranding campaign #hellobrooklyn attracted national attention when the Nets moved from New Jersey to Brooklyn; the day the team launched a new logo, #hellobrooklyn was seen by 25 million Twitter users and tweeted in 39 states. She also oversaw the launch of all Barclays Center digital platforms, which led to Barclays Center garnering more followers than nearly every sports and entertainment venue in the world. Bussman-Wise has become a go-to expert in the field of digital marketing. She has been featured in AdWeek and Fast Company, and quoted in Sports Business Journal and PR Week.
Rashad Williams ‘02 received a B.A. in American studies with a minor in African American studies and played basketball throughout his Brandeis career. He broke a 44-year record to become the university’s all-time leading scorer in men’s basketball, and was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.
Williams is a footwear industry expert. He has worked in product marketing and promotions as well as consumer research for more than 12 years. He began his career in a Boston agency, then served as senior product manager at Adidas Originals, which prompted his relocation to the Pacific Northwest. For the past three years, he has served as senior product-line manager for Brand Jordan at Nike in Beaverton, OR. There, he focused on performance basketball footwear and worked directly with such NBA superstars as Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook and Blake Griffin to develop their on-the-court footwear. Currently, Williams is preparing for the arrival of his second child and is helping his wife start KairosPDX Learning Academy, a K-5 Public Charter School focused on closing the racial achievement gap in Portland, OR.
