75th Anniversary Video - Descriptive Transcript

You see old Brandeis memorabilia, flyers, type writers.

Text fades in,"In 1948, Brandeis University was founded. Now, we celebrate our 75th anniversary.

Abram Sachar, Brandeis' first president says,"It takes daring to project what is to be in the future. But with the growth that is already a matter of record."

The Narrator says,"In a perfect world, there wouldn't have been a need for Brandeis University. Our founding was a brilliant act of defiance."

Old pictures of Brandeis' early students and campus flash by. The Narrator continues, "A university rooted in intellectual risk taking, founded by the American Jewish community to be inclusive."

Newspaper articles fade in highlighting text that says,"From Parks Case: The continuing boycott grew out of the arrest and conviction of Rosa Parks, 42, 634 Cleveland" and "The first Jewish-sponsored university doesn't discriminate"

Archival Brandeis images cut in to the sound of a camera shutter, you see a female researcher, students looking through a telescope, the Brandeis National Women's committee.

The Narrator continues"At a time when the elites were discriminating. Brandeis was welcoming. We were pioneers and still are. We were history makers and still are. We were troublemakers and still are."

Old archival video of Brandeis' campus, Abram Sachar, Brandeis' football team, student researchers, and theater kids cut in.

The Narrator says," In 1948, our founders could only hope for the achievements of the decades that followed. They could only dream of how this young university spirited, scrappy, entrepreneurial, would transform students and faculty into partners in discovery, and to make Nobel Prize worthy research possible. We celebrate 75 years of remarkable, ground breaking history."

Video of different commencements from the last decade cut in and a fast paced hype song begins to play.

The Narrator says,"While we are inspired by our history, 75 years later, let there be no mistake. Brandeis is ready for the future. The fight is different today, but no less important."

You see aerial footage of several buildings on Brandeis' campus, Brandeis fencers, rowers, and robotics students.

The Narrator continues,"Persistence, compassion. Vision. These were the hallmarks of our faculty and students 75 years ago and today. We are bolstered with a sense of pride for all that we have accomplished. But our sights as always, are set on the future."

You see art students drawing, a math professor teaching a student, and a researcher looking at vials.
You see archival photos of an orchestra, ballet dancers, and researchers followed by their modern day counterparts.

The Narrator says,"We have an unshakable faith, fueled by steadfast values that we can build on this extraordinary legacy. This remarkable achievement, which is Brandeis University. Brandeis at 75."

The Brandeis 75th University logo fades in.

The Narrator says,"Come celebrate our brilliant history and future together."
