Karen Uhlenbeck, MA'66, PhD'68 is first woman to receive Abel Prize in mathematics

On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, Brandeis alumni Karen Uhlenbeck, MA'66, PhD'68, H'08, became the first woman to receive the Abel Prize — an award modeled on the Nobel Prizes — from the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters for “the fundamental impact of her work on analysis, geometry and mathematical physics.”
