Alumni Admissions Council

The Brandeis University Alumni Admissions Council (AAC) is an international network of Brandeis graduates who volunteer to represent the University to prospective students, parents, and secondary schools. Organized in 1972, the AAC has grown to more than 1,300 members in regions across the U.S. and around the world. AAC members assist the Brandeis Office of Admissions with applicant recruitment and yield activities.

The criteria for AAC membership are:

  • the ability and willingness to represent Brandeis enthusiastically and honestly to prospective students, guidance counselors, parents and teachers in local communities
  • the willingness to stay informed about the state of the University and its application process
  • the ability to listen to candidates, to report perceptively on their qualities, and to encourage their matriculation if they are admitted

The AAC adds a personal touch to the college admissions process and serves as a vital resource for prospective students and their families. AAC members accomplish these tasks by attending college fairs at various local high schools, interviewing applicants to Brandeis, and by encouraging admitted students to enroll through personalized correspondence and by participating in local yield receptions. AAC recruitment and yield efforts happen in tandem with the admissions cycle, kicking off in late summer and extending through the winter months.

Serving on the council enables alumni to stay actively involved with the Brandeis family and to set an example as successful and active community members.
