About the Trip

The Italian Riviera and Chianti, two of Italy’s most beloved regions, harmonize to offer a captivating blend of Mediterranean vistas and rolling countryside, as well as fine wines and superb cuisine. From Sestri Levante, explore the Italian Riviera, including Portofino, Camogli and the seaside towns of the renowned Cinque Terre. Then, travel to Chianti in the heart of Tuscany and stay in the historic town of Radda. Sample Chianti wine produced from the local vineyards. See the highlights of Florence, including the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio. Visit Siena, Florence’s powerful medieval rival. Explore the hill towns of Castellina and San Gimignano, and visit the enchanting Colle di Val d’Elsa.

While in the seaside Sestri Levante, travel by land and sea to villages along the Ligurian coastline. Discover brightly colored towns that cascade down the sides of the steep hills and breathtaking panoramas in Cinque Terre National Park. In Radda, travel amid hills crowned with sprawling vineyards and explore the region’s medieval towns, which boast a rich architectural and artistic heritage. Journey across the southern Chianti countryside to Siena, one of Italy’s best-preserved medieval cities. Walk twisting stone alleys lined with palaces, Gothic churches and red-brick homes. Witness the exquisite cathedral and 17 historic neighborhoods known as the contrada. Stroll through 12th-century Piazza del Campo to view the Palazzo Pubblico. Conclude your trip by retracing Michelangelo and Dante’s footsteps in Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance.
