In Louis's Footsteps: Walk Where Justice Brandeis Walked Lobby, Goldfarb Library (Tour will begin here) Legacy Walking Tour Justice Louis D. Brandeis came to the Boston area to study law and lived in Boston for nearly 40 years before his appointment to the U. S. Supreme Court in 1916. During his years in Boston, Brandeis graduated from law school, practiced law, raised his family, and advocated for many causes, which made him famous and respected. This is an opportunity to literally see the area where Brandeis lived and worked. Led by Hon. Jonathan Brant '68, tour participants will walk by the two houses in Boston where Brandeis lived with his wife and two daughters; the Massachusetts State House designed by Charles Bulfinch where Brandeis was a forceful advocate for many Progressive causes; the Suffolk County Courthouse (now the John Adams Courthouse) where Brandeis occasionally argued cases; and the location of Brandeis and Warren, his law firm. The Boston walk will take approximately one hour plus transportation from and back to Brandeis. The walk will be at a gentle pace, but does involve some walking up hill. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for inclement weather. |
